Welcome, New Board Members!

The International Network of Creatives (formerly Storytellers Creative Arts) is honored to announce the appointment of three new members to its board of directors.

Our newest board members all have distinct callings for discipleship and the arts and bring a wealth of experience in the arts and business, along with a passion to drive the ministry’s success.

CARL WILBANKS

Carl is the past Vice President of Sales at Pfizer Inc. During his career, he was responsible for sales and marketing of some of the most iconic brands in the pharmaceutical industry. Starting as a sales representative in Athens, GA, the Lord continued to move him into increasing levels of responsibility over his 33-year Pfizer career. After retiring from the company in 2019, he has enjoyed the opportunity of supporting the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Bonita Springs High School and serving in various roles at Covenant Church of Naples. He and his wife live in Naples, FL, and have three married daughters and eight grandchildren.

Carl shares,

“As a friend and interested supporter, I have witnessed this life-changing ministry for many years. Having spent quality time with Dr. Bill Barnett to hear his vision, I have observed his passion come to life through the ministry’s growth and expansion, reaching out to individuals near and far. The Lord is clearly impacting lives, and I am inspired to join this exciting journey. I look forward to supporting INC and the Arts community in this tremendous endeavor, as hearts are transformed, and souls saved as God is glorified through the International Network of Creatives.”

CAROL SESSO

Carol is passionate about mentoring and discipling young artists. As a music educator with 40 years of experience, she used her skills, experience, and passion to mentor students, guiding them down successful career paths in music and performance. Carol has directed the music at numerous churches, high school and children’s choirs, children’s musicals, and plays, and has taught and coached piano and voice students at all levels. In 2007, she joined the Barrington, IL, Children’s Choir staff, a nationally recognized, auditioned ensemble in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, which has performed in festivals worldwide, including Carnegie Hall, the Joffrey Ballet, the National Anthem at pro sporting events, and live TV performances. She was eventually named Chamber Choir director and Artistic Director.

After retiring at the end of 2020, Carol and her husband moved to Florida, where they spend most of the year. They have four adult children and nine grandchildren.

Carol explains her attraction to INC’s ministry:

“When I moved to Naples last year, I connected with the ministry. Getting to know Bill and seeing the sincerity of his heart for God and discipling artists, it is clear that Bill is helping to fill the void in the lives of so many visual and performing artists. Philosopher and theologian Blaise Pascal said, “There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of each man which cannot be satisfied by any created thing but only by God the Creator, made known through Jesus Christ.” Spending years as a music and theater educator, I have observed the emptiness of creatives who aren’t tethered to their Creator. I look forward to joining Bill (and many others) in bringing hope and the light of Christ to artists.”

DR. AKWETE LEX ADJEI

Dr. Adjei (Lex) earned his Ph.D. in pharmaceutics at the University of Texas. He is a member of several professional and honorary societies, and is a Fellow of the AAPS.

Lex was Vice President, Research and Development, Adtech Pharma, Inc., a startup drug delivery company for ophthalmology therapeutics. Previously, he was Executive Director, Rhodes Pharmaceuticals, L.P., where he led the development of novel and generic treatment products. Before joining Rhodes, Lex was Vice President, Research and Development at Kos Pharmaceuticals, Inc. In addition, he was a Volwiler Research Fellow at Abbott Laboratories.

Lex has co-edited one book, is the author of 12 book chapters, and has over 65 publications, as well as several European patents. Lex is committed to discipling men, and growing them to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ and responsible leaders in their homes and workplaces.

Dr.Adjei expresses his enthusiasm about his new board position:

“I am excited and honored to serve on the International Network of Creatives board. I can use my spiritual gifts in effective leadership development to enhance the structure and effectiveness of INC in the United States and across the globe as they seek to grow and develop new local and regional ministry leaders who will also train and teach others to do likewise.”

Founder and President Dr. Bill Barnett shares:

“We are excited and honored to have the benefit of these experienced leaders on the INC board. They will further enhance and drive the success of our two-fold initiative to minister to and through artists to change the world for Christ.”
