SCA Volunteer Spotlight: Stephanie Shaffer

Dr. Stephanie Shaffer is the longest-serving volunteer with Storytellers Creative Arts.

Stephanie brings a wealth of talent and experience from her career in the arts and counseling. Since 2010, Shaffer has been a driving force in the growth and development of SCA’s programs, which have touched the lives of thousands by sharing the love of Christ through the arts.

A former licensed Talent Agent and Manager in Florida, Stephanie Shaffer has twenty-two years of experience working with hundreds of actors, singers, and models, and is widely known for her one-on-one career coaching. By networking Florida talent into New York, LA, Chicago, Atlanta, and Nashville, Stephanie has worked with brands including Lands’ End, LL Bean, Polaroid, Levi Strauss, Westinghouse, and more.

She has also cast talent for films and television, shows such as Just Cause, Gone Fishing, Captiva, Miss America-Behind the Crown, Escape from Cuba, America’s Most Wanted, Rescue 911, and the most famous, a national commercial for Kit Kat candy bars. Stephanie has also done television show scouting for Screen Actors Guild Agencies, including Burn Notice, The Glades, Army Wives, and more.

Stephanie served as business manager for eleven Miss Florida’s, including Leanza Cornett, Miss America 1994 and Lissette Gonzalez, Miss Florida 1998 and a Miss America first runner up. Lissette later landed a starring role in an off-Broadway show, “Four Men Named Jose and a Girl Named Maria”, and signed an RCA singing contract. Stephanie discovered and managed country music singer/songwriter Jay Taylor, who currently tours out of Nashville, and connected Jay with one of Blake Shelton’s first songwriter’s, Kirsti Manna, who wrote Blake’s hit song, “Austin.”

When Stephanie sold her talent agency, she opened an event planning business in Naples and went back to school to study theology and Christian Counseling. She has combined her previous experience in talent management with her excellent people skills to pursue a career as a Life Coach. A desire to teach others valuable interpersonal relationships and career skills led Stephanie to complete her Masters and Ph.D. degrees.

Now, with Certification as a Life Coach with the International Christian Coaching Association and the American Association of Christian Counselors, she will continue to coach clients moving forward with their lives, relationships, ambitions, and career goals. Also, as a certified DISC Temperament Coach, Shaffer says it is rewarding to serve with a ministry where she can combine her professional and ministry experiences in the arts and counseling to bring hope to hurting people.

“Random Acts of Kindness” is a term that we hear often used today. Our programs with Storyteller’s Creative Arts are not random; they are well planned. Our participants often react with such pleasure. One would think it had been a random act of kindness. Jesus did acts of kindness. He went where He was needed, too, and did not forsake them. Our volunteers help our students find the God-given gifts they often did not even know they had. Our students are so appreciative that we visited them. It is healing for their souls as well as ours." As SCA continues to grow and impact Southwest Florida and beyond, we are grateful for our team of dedicated volunteers who are making a difference in the world. To God, be the glory!
