Artist Spotlight: Carol Sesso
Updated: May 13, 2022
"I’m so grateful to have been introduced to the Makers Community Group. After a long (and much enjoyed) career as a choral conductor/music teacher, my transition to retirement has been a bit of a bumpy ride, and even a little scary. Questions such as “What’s next on the journey?”, and “Can I still make a difference?” have loomed large in my purpose-driven thinking.

I’ve absolutely loved connecting with these new creative friends. The beauty of an artist (at least to me) is that we don’t always think or create within the lines. We are sensitive. We are visionary. Sometimes we are impulsive. Sometimes we are misunderstood. In the Makers Group, we are accepted as well as understood. And....we are pointed to the Master Maker/ Creator. Life is filled with times of change, and times of questioning. I so appreciate our group sessions where we can feel safe and not judged for not always having it all together. We can and do inspire each other to use the creative gifts God has given, regardless of our season of life.
Having known and coached young artists over many years, I think it would be impactful to develop these kind of small groups for teens. Our current culture presents teens with an array of lifestyle options and choices that (in my observation) have left many confused, depressed and anxious. How wonderful it would be if they had a space where they could feel encouraged in their art, ask their questions, and be pointed to the Master Creator.
Thank you, Dr. Bill Barnett, for your walk with God. You’ve made a space where artists (of all types) can be known and can flourish in their walk with Him.
In the spring of 2017 Carol was named Artistic Director with the Barrington Children's Choir. She retired in January of 2021. Experience Makers Community Groups!
Community is collaboration, creating, and doing life together. It’s where the most incredible stories unfold, creating space for learning together, meaningful relationships, accountability, and spiritual growth.
As artists, shapers of the culture, we make art from a heart of worship and dependency on the Master Artist who inspires our creativity and skill. We are excited to walk with you, fellowship with you and to walk into our creative callings, together. All creative types welcome.
Groups are designed to enhance the artist’s experience through relevant resources, activities, and conversations that engage in to know the One who invited us to join us on the journey, grow in our relationship to Him, and show the world the hope and love of Christ through what we create.
Makers Community Groups are located in creative spaces like art galleries, theaters, studios, virtually on Zoom, and other places to foster an atmosphere of engagement, conversation, and artmaking. Groups meet bi-weekly in Southwest Florida and virtually.
