Artist Spotlight: Alexa Chiang

My relationship with Christ is vital in my life. I'm actively seeking to live as his disciple in every area of my life. The Makers Community group has supported this journey.

Alexa Chiang manages financial planning and analysis for Peanuts Worldwide LLC, a global licensing/media company that owns The PEANUTS characters and related intellectual property. She is also a visual artist using acrylics as her primary medium. She aims to use her art to honor her Maker by exploring the language of color and organic shapes in deconstructing and rebuilding her understanding of moments that shaped her life. Alexa shares her creative gifts as Social Media Manager and teaches art to children and youth in SCA’s outreach programs. We are blessed to have her in our community of creatives.

"My uncle introduced us to Christianity. My immediate family (mom, two brothers, and myself) became Christian after my family moved to the states, and life circumstances forced us to bow our knees and turn to God for help."

Alexa shares,

"I have noticed some areas of spiritual growth over the past year. I have a growing understanding of the gospel narrative and how to apply it to the issues of their everyday life and the world.

The Makers Community group reorients me to God, reminds me to be still, and invites God to be the center of my life through prayer and meditation. I'm encouraged by group members' stories, the struggles they are going through/have overcome, and the role faith plays in their lives. Their stories re-direct me to God and remind me of the importance of building my identity and life in God.

As an artist, if my identity is built based on the gospel narrative, my art is a natural expression of who I am; it should point viewers to attributes of God: truth, beauty, hope, love, etc."

Experience Makers Community Groups!

Community is collaboration, creating, and doing life together. It’s where the most incredible stories unfold, creating space for learning together, meaningful relationships, accountability, and spiritual growth.

As artists, shapers of the culture, we make art from a heart of worship and dependency on the Master Artist who inspires our creativity and skill. We are excited to walk with you, fellowship with you and to walk into our creative callings, together. All creative types welcome.

Groups are designed to enhance the artist’s experience through relevant resources, activities, and conversations that engage in to know the One who invited us to join us on the journey, grow in our relationship to Him, and show the world the hope and love of Christ through what we create.

Makers Community Groups are located in creative spaces like art galleries, theaters, studios, virtually on Zoom, and other places to foster an atmosphere of engagement, conversation, and artmaking. Groups meet bi-weekly in Southwest Florida and virtually.
