The Served Community

“We are honored to partner with the International Network of Creatives as they minister to those who come to us so often in their darkest of hours and, through expressive arts programs, find the light of hope needed to overcome the disease of addiction!

The Expressive Art and Music outreach programs that Dr. Bill Barnett and his team have facilitated for seven years at the David Lawrence Center' s Crossroads Residential Program has enriched the lives of many individuals healing from mental health and substance use challenges. Art and music therapy provides a healing pathway and allows for expressing repressed, hidden feelings not easily put into words. Yet, given these outlets, the inner hurts burst forward into cathartic expression.”

When our children and families attend “Get Creative Day” they are amazed at their own creations, sing and dance to music and enjoy story time from some of the very best storytellers in our community. This day of fun unites the community for much needed time away from the many stressful daily routines.

Our families are some of the hardest working families either in farming or the service industry that make Southwest Florida the destination for so many.  A day to learn together; rest and heal from day to day stress, and transform while participating in arts that give hope and create endless smiles. On behalf of our many families in the Immokalee community in this very critical time in our world; we look forward to our next day of being together to create, ensure and remind hope is always with us all."

“We have benefitted from the work of the International Network of Creatives through their outreach to at-risk youth. For many, finding their voice through the arts is a totally new experience. At a time in our country when communication tends towards violence, the importance of teaching young people another way to express themselves is critical. I appreciate the work that Storytellers is doing to provide opportunities in this area for children and teens in our community.”
